To get you running, just setup ssh keys that have empty passphrases.  Then you don't need ssh-agent.

To setup ssh keys that have non-empty passphrases and get ssh-agent working properly, google around for ssh tutorials (there are many fine ones available) -- that's a bit out of scope for this list.
