Subject: [PLPA users] libtopology

This looks like a fascinating library:

    http://runtime.bordeaux.inria.fr/libtopology/

Basically, it reports everything that PLPA does, and a lot more. It
also does so in an OS-independent way.

I'm wondering if there is enough overlap to combine PLPA and
libtopology into one project -- there's ideas from both that would be
beneficial to the other. For example:

1. PLPA is fully embeddable
2. PLPA has a nice command line syntax for topology-aware options
3. libtopology is OS independent
4. libtopology gets much more information (and is working on NUMA
issues for an upcoming release)

I've had quite positive experiences working with one of their authors
before (Brice Goglin). We briefly discussed PLPA and libtopology in
some off-list mails, and then I suggested that he join this list and I
pose the "should we merge?" question to the broader community (PLPA
has a small community, but it's nonzero :-) ).

What do people think?
