The motherboards are Tyan S2469, a fairly popular and high-end choice for these processors at the time. The board is at the latest BIOS level, 1.08, and the vendor has not updated the BIOS since 2004.
The kernel in use is 2.6.22 .
Is there any way to figure out which of the two is the culprit, and work around this issue?
