Fair enough. I think we can put this in with the recent configure
fixes for a v1.1.1. I'll need at least a few days to get this out the
door.

I think at least one other MPI implementation is investigating using
PLPA (see the recent posts on this list).
I haven't tried to "market" PLPA too much, and I haven't really
followed if anyone other projects are using it. I do tend to mention
it to our HPC-oriented customers, because typical socket/core counts
are going up.
