Can we cite any common cases where "copy" is used instead of
"duplicate"? "copy" is certainly shorter. :-)
MPI has MPI_COMM_DUP, MPI_TYPE_DUP ("dup", not "duplicate").
If we don't like the verb "copy", how about "clone"?
